This is my first experience with worker's comp; however, my initial contact has been expedient, thorough, and seamless. I feel confident that I have selected a competent, straight forward and trustworthy attorney. Will update as I move forward with process. Part 2 - This has been a disheartening experience. I really hoped having an attorney would help me to get the care and treatment necessary for full recovery, as certainly workers comp and the doctor I have been assigned care more about returning me to work than they do about whether I can actually do the work without risking further injury when I get there. I no longer expect that any settlement I may receive will come anywhere close to what this injury will truly cost in the long run. All I can hope for at this point is that the attorneys will fight hard for a reasonable settlement I can live with. It is unfortunate the WC laws in Florida seem stacked against the employee. Really, the way the laws are apparently written, if you get stuck with a complacent WC doctor, there is nothing that can be done without risking getting an even worse doctor. Will post again as case comes to a close.
